Former US President Jimmy Carter has passed away at the age of 100.

Jimmy Carter died on Sunday afternoon at his home in Georgia. He was 100 years old.

Jimmy Carter was a peanut farmer from Georgia. He was the 39th President of the United States. He was a Democrat and served from 1977 to 1981.




He faced tough times like economic problems and the Iran hostage crisis. He also helped make peace between Israel and Egypt.

This work for peace won him the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002.

Jimmy Carter was born on October 1, 1924, in Plains, Georgia. He grew up in Archery before going to the United States Naval Academy in 1946.

After graduating, he joined the US Navy and worked on submarines. He then went into politics.

He became a member of the Georgia State Legislature and later the Governor of Georgia in 1971.

In December 1974, he ran for president. He won in 1976.
