Karachi Police Warns: Attempted Murder Charges for Firing on New Year’s Eve
Karachi police have issued a stern warning to the public, announcing that anyone caught firing in celebration on New Year’s Eve will face attempted murder charges.
To raise awareness among residents, announcements are being made in various mosques across the city, educating people about the serious legal actions planned against celebratory gunfire during the New Year festivities.
According to the Inspector General (IG) of Sindh, strict measures will be enforced, including patrolling, picketing, and snap-checking on roads, streets, and public spaces. "Firing on New Year’s Eve will not be tolerated, and those involved will face attempted murder charges," reiterated the IG.

Traffic Plan for New Year’s Eve in Karachi
A comprehensive traffic plan has also been announced for New Year’s Eve. As per the traffic police, the road from Akhtar Colony to Seaview via Khayaban-e-Ittehad will be closed. Additionally, routes from Two Swords (Do Talwar) to the Abdullah Shah Ghazi shrine and the shrine to 26th Street will also remain off-limits to vehicles.
Drivers heading to Seaview or its surrounding areas will be redirected via 26th Street, while the PIDC Chowk to Club Road will also be closed for traffic.
Karachi police urge residents to cooperate fully, adhere to the traffic plan, and celebrate responsibly to ensure public safety.
