Pakistan Secures $20 Billion Deal with World Bank
Pakistan has achieved a major milestone as the World Bank commits to providing $20 billion under a 10-year Country Partnership Framework (CPF). This funding will support key development sectors, including education, health, clean water, and renewable energy.
The decision follows joint efforts by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief General Asim Munir, with 19 out of 24 directors voting in favor of Pakistan. The funds will primarily focus on combating child stunting, improving climate resilience, and increasing tax revenues to over 15% of GDP.
Additionally, the CPF aims to provide quality education to 12 million students, healthcare to 50 million individuals, and clean water and sanitation to 60 million people. Renewable energy projects with a capacity of 10 gigawatts are also part of the initiative.
This funding represents a significant opportunity for Pakistan to address pressing challenges and improve the quality of life for its citizens. Transparent and efficient utilization of resources will be critical to achieving these goals.
